disc weight

Trying to work some ground that is old pature. Sod is about ten inches thick. I have a 7' disc but it keeps getting clogged. If I add weight (already have two railroad ties) will that help, and can you get to much weight? Thanks.

Do you just need scrapers?

I don't think adding weight will help, maybe cut deeper, but, not keep from pluging. Scrapers might be the answer, or maybe the ground is just too wet?
