Just a heads up.

DTV has a free weekend preview on channel 103, usually a concert of some form or another.

This coming weekend, they are evidently going to show a "Blue Man Group" show.

For those that dont know them, they are the blue faced guys you use to see on tv doing Intel commercials.

I've seen their show in Vegas, and simply, words do not describe it. VERY unique & entertaining. Maybe very strange?? /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

So for those who have DTV, tune in this weekend to 103 (24 hours a day) and see what they're all about.

Then try to describe them to someone else!

Guess I'll have to tune in Friday night as they are coming Saturday morning to switch us over to Dish. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Why are you switching to Dish Network? Just curious.

Actually it is a couple of reasons. With DirecTV we don't actually go through DirecTV we go through a company called Pegasus and we end up paying more through them then we would've straight through DirecTV - has always earked me. We have a DTV box that is going bad and since I had to threaten to leave about 6 - 7 months ago to get the other one replaced I bet the won't want to replace this one without me paying a couple hundred bucks. Finally the last reason is the new receivers are "dual" receivers and can broadcast a second channel to another TV(s). This will allow us to still only have 2 receivers but have TV in the living room, our bedroom and/or kitchen, and each of the kids bedrooms. The best part is no equipment to buy and they do the upkeep in the even of a failure. It wasn't an option before, but it is now since Dish carries Columbus, OH channels. Another good thing about all of this we'll get a few more channels including some Encore & The Movie Channel and still pay about $10 less per month then we are with Pegasucks now. I know Encore and TMC don't have all of the latest/greatest movies but maybe they'll have some decent uncut/commercial free movies that we don't have to rent/buy on DVD. We don't have enough time to justify having HBO or the like so maybe this will be a good compromise.

Plus now I'll get the RFD channel. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I have seen the Blue Men in Boston and Indianapolis. The Boston show was much better. They have there own theater there, as were just passing through Indy.

I don't think you will grasp all the effects on a tv, but, might be worth watching for free! It was kinda pricey.
About like watching top fuel drag racing on tv, you just can't explain the feeling of the ground moving as they go down the track on tv.

Seen them in Vegas & Chicago, you are right about being there. As far as your ground movements... you just need to add more subwoofers & more watts /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Keep in mind that the original guys on Blue Man Group now are semi-retired. There are 4 different Blue Man Groups comprising about 30 players that travel around the country, all trained and supported by the original founders. They occasionally have auditions for new members in various cities around the country. They were in Boston not long ago holding auditions.

You are right. Additionally (and I dont know this to be absolutely correct), I heard that although they made commercials for Intel products, they all used Macs!! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

**Bump**

Just thought I'd mention I saw the show tonight and it's much more like a traditional concert and nothing like their standard Vegas show (unless it's changed).

Very entertaining if you like a lot of banging going on!

At the end of show, they did some interviews and one of the guys said on some of the tracks of "music", they had something like 50 different tracks of percussioniests.

Probably would have been worth seeing in person even if you HAD seen their "regular" show before.

We watched that tonight at 6:00pm. Pretty fun. Me and the 11 year old watched it. I had it cranked up pretty loud on the surround sound. Wife said it was shaking the whole house. Sounded nice. The 6 year old laid down on the couch right in front of the TV and got to move #3 before she fell asleep! /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif She had a tough day at kindergarten. Two extra recesses and a big snack at after school care. The rest of us enjoyed it.

Am envious on the surround setup. Mine is going in the basement and since the basement is not finished yet, mine isn't setup.

I've got an old (1978) set of Electro Voice "Interface D" speakers that will put out "an incredible 106 db long-term sound pressure level at 28 Hz" I have those setup in conjunction with my Klipsch Lascalla speakers which give a terrific punch to the chest (while the EV's shake the foundation) They compliment each other very well as each strong point takes care of the others weaker point.

Sadly, all this (currently unhooked) vibrational terror and floor shaking thunder currently sits there looking at me wondering when the heck we're going to finish basement. I think the wife is actually slowing down the basement as I think she gets perverse satisfaction out of seeing all my toys unhooked....guess it keeps me working & not sitting there enjoying it. Keeping it unhooked has the added benefit of NOT vibrating her china inside the cabinet and breaking it.

I see the BMG and hear the sound over the tv speaker and simply DROOL at what it would sound like coming out of a big surround system.

Our system is a little one that we won at a church raffle. It shakes the whole house /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif I can only imagine what a really nice, quality system would do to our walls and windows! /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

That sub-woofer really makes the difference. Unbelievable.

Well I saw part of the show Saturday night on the bedroom tv and was intrigued enough to watch the whole thing Sunday night with the surround sound. Very interesting. The daughter (14) watched a little bit but couldn't get past the blue guys. Wife liked it and the little guy (2) was fascinated, when he wasn't running around getting into mischief.

My favorite part was Venus Hum. There's just something about a girl in a neon dress made out of hula hoops. No, not really, but she had a heck of a voice.

You're right, I wouldn't know how to describe them except by saying that the show was very unique and entertaining.

Interestingly enough, I thought the Venus Hum part was the best part of the show. Took me watching the show again to notice her dress .. blinking? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif along with the rest of the show.

Not only could she sing (a song I never liked much until this version) but when the band cut loose with all the drums, lights, strobes, effects... /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Yes, she(Annette Strean) had a heck of a set of pipes. Gave me the goose bumps. I also like the Blondie version of that tune sung by Deborah Harry.

Here's the lyrics:

Ooh, its so good, its so good, its good, its so good
Ooh, Im in love, Im in love, Im love, Im in love
Ooh, I feel love, I feel love, I feel love, I feel love
I feel love
I feel love
I feel love
I feel
Ooh, I feel, I feel, I feel, I feel
Ooh, you and me, you and me, you and me
Ooh, I feel love, I feel love, I feel love, I feel love
I feel love
I feel love
I feel
Ooh, its so good, its so good, its good, its so good
Ooh, Im in love, Im in love, Im love, Im in love
Ooh, I feel love, I feel love, I feel love, I feel love
I feel love
I feel love
I feel love
I feel

I think that song is about a person and their tractor! /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
