Digger blade not holding position

Hi guys,

My digger blade won't hold its setting positions, it will raise up and down but a mid position say and it slowly drops down. It also doesn't have much lifting power to level the machine , barely any really. It seems to dig strongly enough though . Can't see any hydraulic leaks on the rams of the blade they look clean /dry. It is an older machine not sure of YoM and the timer broke , stuck at 3k+ hours . Any ideas what's the prob.

Another prob - though not hydraulic - is when been digging for a few hours the starter motor and solenoid seem to get very hot. If I then stop the machine ( err I mean stall it :ashamed: ) ) then I can't restart her, the SM just turns over very slowly though battery is in good condition (new). When cold she starts great. Is this a case of heat transfer , engine temp gauge doesn't go above mid point on cabin gauge.

Since posting this morning I was scraping some top soil later in the day , easy light stuff when the blade just went down and stayed down. Can't seem to get the blade to come to its top position or lift at all now. This is gonna make moving around pretty awkward like this. Is there a way I can at least get the blade up - while waiting to fix the original problem which I guess are related anyway. But I can get by without leveling blade but want to be able to manouevre and dig to finish a landscape project.
