Difficult shifting tip from a JD dealer

/ Difficult shifting tip from a JD dealer #11
One thing I've learned from reading the posts in this forum, is to always park with the transmission in neutral. One guy theorized that the transmission may rust and lock in place. But I think the problem might be as identified in the previous posts in this thread.
Wouldn't it be something if I couldn't move the shift lever into neutral and I couldn't start the machine due to the safety interlock! And of course the machine would be parked well away from the road.

Do the newer gear tractors still have a park position? Thats what all my old twenty series machines had. Most of these didn't have a real parking brake.

Mine starts in any gear (HST), I have made ti a practice to either tap the FWD and REV pedals or roll back just a bit in reverse and that makes the switch from 4WD to 2WD easy and smooth.

My PR 3520 starts in any gear provided the powerreverser is in neutral, otherwise it won't start and the screen reads "nEutOF". There is no park position, just a parking brake. No problem switching from 4WD to 2WD or back at any time.
