Well, I generally listen to what my officemates in grad school referred to as "Angry Music". I had a lot of angst, and often put on the headphones and banged away on the computer, solving this or that problem, or writing something that was real important at the time. Another topic in this forum got me to thinking about it.

Anyway, I like Metallica, Megadeth, White Zombie, Alice in Chains, Pantera, Queensryche, Mercyful Fate, Nirvana, and when things get really bad, Marilyn Manson. That guy is so screwed up anything looks great by comparison. Now that I've got a great job, etc. I find that I don't listen to my "angry music" nearly as much.

nah ... never do that ... let's see yesterday I played some Zamfir (panflutes), Enya (celtic "newage"), Bob Segar, LeeAnn Rimes, Leann Womack, and Lee Greenwood (his American Anthem album is fantastic) ... ohh and both Meatloaf Bat out of Hell albums.
I'm in the process of getting all my old vinyl together to rip it so I can get rid of them ... but I need to install the spare 100gig drives first ... should be interesting to hear all that old western, rock, and comedy again, as well as the 100 or so classical records I haven't heard for years.
Whats that word? Oh yeah, eclectic ... yup ... eclectic describes my listening habits. Everything except (c)rap and heavy jazz ...

Gosh, all you guys are talking about "music" that I never even heard of./w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif I almost never turn a radio on anymore, but I kind of liked '50s rock and roll, and '40s to 60's country music. But I guess I'm a bit different. My favorite, only thing I'd spend money on, what I'm listening to right, and what I have about 75 cassettes and a half dozen CDs of is Southern Gospel male quartets (The Statesmen, The Blackwoods, The Cathedrals, The Stamps Quartet, The Plainsmen, The Statler Brothers, The Oak Ridge Boys - when they were strictly gospel singers, etc.). I like good 4 part harmony with a strong bass singer, and unfortunately all the ones I knew and grew up with are dying off./w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif

When Seinfeld went off the air they had a 2 hr series finale. The DJ at the Baltimore classic rock station I was listening to figured the whole world was watching Jerry Seinfeld. Therefore he could play whatever he felt like. He did Inna Gadda Da vida for 2 hours. We were on a road trip and my 9 YO daughter thought it was great. Especially since mom and dad were singing their fool heads off. The DJ took calls from listeners explaining why they were NOT watching Seinfeld. All in all it was prettty amusing and enjoyable.

Fast forward 4 years - daughter old enough to earn money babysitting. The very first CD she buys is Iron Butterfly. But nowdays I can only stomach one round of it. Any more and I get a headache.

Like most of us you will like the music of your teen to 20 years of age. Must bring back memories.

I like Peter Paul and Mary, Gordon lightfoot, John Denver, Buffie St.Marie[ what a story ] Jonie Mitchel.

It was a shock to find that father time had not bypassed these individuals.

I may be mistaken but it was said john Denver spent a lot of time around Jasper as have some other well know personalities.

RobertN mentioned NPR and music....

One night I was driving home from working the property and
NPR was interviewing a man in band called Hayseed Dixie.
They also played some of the music as well and I really liked
it. Went out to Amazon and ordered the CD. The album
sounds like bluegrass but the songs are rock songs....

The music is from AC/DC.... The album is "Hayseed Dixie. A
Hillbilly Tribute to AC/DC" Get the name? /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif "Hayseed
Dixie" AC/DC. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

"Highway to Hell," "Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap," "Big Balls," and "TNT" really do sound good recorded as Bluegrass!!!! /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

For you motorcycle lovers, try the Del McCoury Bands 1952 Black Vincent Lightning. 2002 Bluegrass song of the year, originally an English tune. The Canadian Brass is most excellent. A little Scott Joplin piano, some Mormon Tabernacle Choir, a dash of Jimmy Buffet with a Rolling Stones chaser. Life is good!
