Differences betwen 3 pt and subframe backhoes?

We have a 3pt backhoe on a Kioti DK35SE and it does fine but it is weak and I actually bent the top link pin on the tractor running it. I personally would go sub frame, my father in law bought this hoe so I had no say.

Thanks people. I am waiting for a couple of replies to emails and phone calls. I think I will be going with the subframe model. I'm just not sure yet that it will be a Kioti hoe.
The cheaper one I quoted in my original post was exclusively a 3 pt. hoe and no way they would supply a subframe, so they ruled themselves out of the race.

When I was looking to put my BH70X on my M4700 Woods gave me a part number that I gave to my dealer and my dealer told me it was a 3 point hitch saf-t-lock/HD toplink used w/ a BH90X.
From the BH90X manual

Apparently bigger tractors can handle the 3 pt stress.
/edit - that was still going to cost about $1,000 list.

I have a BX 70x with thumb on my 4200 john Deere. Went with the subframe mount. Also use the tractor hydraulics. I wouldn't want to use a 3 point backhoe on my small tractor. I know people have had good luck with them. But, the subframe stiffens the whole tractor, distributes the stress over the whole tractor also. I use mine from cleaning up fencerows, digging clay gravel, stumps, picking up and sawing logs. Regular trenching in light soil doesn't stress one that much. It's all the other things that you'll use it for that will. My little tractor is a hydra-stat transmission , I put it in neutral and don't leave the backhoe seat to move the tractor around when I am working it. This is just my opinion, I grew up running a 580 superk case backhoe and have countless hours on one in a full size. Hope this helps LUTT

I've told this story before somewhere on TBN. I had the top link break digging a 6 Ft deep hole. I road the seat down, face first and the control levers luckily didn't puncture my gut. It was a wild ride seeing the bottom of that hole coming up towards my face. I also broke one of the lift arms which just about threw me off the seat when the left side of the hoe dropped suddenly.

I got a frame mounted bh on my new tractor. It is much more stable and doesn't swing back and forth like the 3pt. Much more pleasant to operate.

Dang! My neighbor that's a shop foreman for the local New Holland/Mahindra dealer has seen several 3 point related incidents when it comes to backhoes. They won't hardly sell one on a 3 point because of this. Thanks for sharing that. Glad you didn't get seriously injured. LUTT

Hi
For my 2 cents worth ,,I have had a Woods 3ph hoe for 25 years.. It has its own pump and resisvoire for fluid, powered by pto.It also has stabilizer legs so with the bucket down there is only stress on the top link
I used it on a mf 1020 tractor which was about 20 hp
Over the years i have dug trenches up to 5 feet for water lines . trenches for buried power lines for
my homes and any number of stumps usually cedar with root balls exceeding 4 feet in diameter.I
have not broken anything over the years.
So I dont believe all the so called rumours ,, anything can be broken if you try hard enough ,,common
scence must be used

I do believe you can find a better deal than what you have been quoted
.

Each time mine broke I was digging in relatively soft ground, no rocks or roots.
