What is the difference between 2 point and 3 point hitches? Which implements use which? Can you easily switch back and forth. Are there special parts? Where can you get 2 pt and 3 pt hitch parts?

Most peopel are familiar with 3 point hitchs but 2 points are the exception to the tractor hitch rule. I will try to explain the best and shortest way I can. I see them on a lot of grey market tractors with tillers. Imagine your traditional 3 point set up. Now remove the lower lift arms. You will be left with the upper arms and the verticals hanging from the upper lift arms. The tiller attaches to the rear of the tractor around the same place that the lower lift arms would attach. This is the pivot point of the tiller. The verticals hanging from the upper lift arms then attach somewhere to the top of tiller. Another 2 point set up that I have seen has been on older full size American tractors. They have the lower lift arms that you would normally see on a 3 point hitch but instead of having lift pin balls at the ends of the arms, they have a socket that the implement slides and locks into. The tractor I saw with this set up also had regular ends that could go onto the hitch and a toplink bracket so that you could use regular 3 point implements. I hope this explains it.
