Difference b/w b3030 and b3200

Noob here, but "lurked" and learned alot from the forum...I just recently purchased my first tractor Kubota B3200...Only have 4 hrs on it, but waiting to get more when the weather/rain will cooprerate. I see alot of ya'll talk more favorably about the 3030? I never looked at the 3030, guess I didn't know to- I was between 2600/2900/3200...What is the difference, or what makes one more preferable over the other...Thanks.-Doug

The 3030 has a bunch of premium features vs. the 3200 is more of a basic tractor. Some of the premium features are:

Position control vs. quarter inching on the 3200
Hydrostatic steering vs. steering box / linkage
Extendable three point hitch arms
Extendable sway arms on three point vs. turnbuckles
tilt wheel
suspension seat

I'm sure i'm forgetting a few...........................

MY B7800 had quarter inching valve which would let the 3ph drop a specific amount when you pushed it down to the first detent and drop all the way when you pushed it down all the way, as I remember. A current B7800 owner can correct this if I remember wrong. My recently ex B3200 and another new one I checked on the lot did not do the specific drop, it dropped till you stopped. I had asked if this was the same with other B3200 owners on this forum and I think those that responded agreed. I think the ads indicated it has quarter inching valve but if it does it doesn't have the same one as the B7800 which dropped a specific quarter of an inch with each push. I mention this because I keep seeing that the B3200 has quarter inching valve or it may have been added/changed after mine was made.

Same with my 3200. Says 1/4 inching valve but it doesn't do it.

On my B7800, push the lever to the detent and it raises or lowers very slowly, push it past the detent and it raises or lowers quickly. Never could figure out why they called it quarter inching.:confused2:

The idea of the 1/4 inching valve is so you can raise/lower the 3pt very slowly hence 1/4". It does not mean it only moves 1/4" at a time. You can move 1/4" if desired. It is more precise compared to the position control.

I disagree that the 1/4 inching valve is more precise than position control. Just the opposite. The purpose of position control is repeatability. The ability to lower an implement to the same depth each time just by moving the lever down to the same spot. A lever stop can be set so that all you need to do is push the lever down to the stop, leave it there, and the implement will return to the same depth every time. This is very handy when using a brush hog, for example. If, at the end of a row you raise the brush hog to make your turn, when you go straight again and lower the postion control lever back down to the stop the brush hog will lower back to the same place it was before. Basically, the lift arms corespond to the position of the lever. Move the lever all the way down and leave it there and the arms will go all the way down. Move the lever all the way to the top and leave it there and the arms will go all the way to the top. Move the lever anywhere in between and leave it there and the arms will go to that spot.

I also think your confusing position control with some other terminology.
Precision starts with position control, then 1/4"ing then there's what's truly on the B3200 which is hold it down to go down and hold it up to go up. Let go when you think your there going up or down. I've had all of them and I'm not to much into rear implements as much as I am into mowing and fel, soon to also try BHing but position control is the best for accuracy, ease of use and repeatability.
