What is the order if you are installing a storage tank. a Fill-rite pump, a cartridge filter and a water separator? Do the filters go between the tank and the pump, or the pump and the nozzle? Any order on the filters?

Thanks

My setup has a pump going into a combo filter/separator then out to the hose and nozzle.

If all separate: pump, filter, separator. In 39 years of running diesel cars, 17 years running diesel tractors and now 8 years running a diesel generator, I've never ever had a water in diesel problem.

Tank>Pump> T-block> water separator filter combo> hose> auto shut off nozzle

Been storing diesel in two 55 gallon vented drums kept under a shelter for 6 years in humid N. FL. My fuel supplier has a filter on the truck as does any pump you buy fuel from a station does. I don't filter at all before pumping into the tractors. My pickup tube is off the bottom so I have 5 gallons left when it won't pick up any more fuel. When it gets to that point I tilt the drum and pull the remaining 5 gallons for inspection. Never had an ounce of water.

If you have your suction pipe appropriately high enough off the bottom, a water seperator or absorbing element is a moot point. You expect water to be in the bottom of any large long term storage bulk tanks. Just have a drain on the bottom, and drain it when paste shows that it's worthwhile.

I had a Panic when all my stuff started to run like crap and went buying filters and seperators for the bulk tank. When all that happened is that I screwed up and switched pumps putting one with a longer suction pipe into a tank, thus sucking all the water and crap off the bottom.
