Diesel Pickups

Dodge did have a concept truck a few years back with a Cat 7.2 in it.

This whole discussion is pretty much a moot point. PACCAR is simply not going to divert resources from their primary bread and butter lines in order to build a few "pickup trucks". Even Navistar who used to make pickups did not really go out of their way to market a few high end "pickups". Nor will Daimler bring back a heavier truck than the 3500 Ram.

Perhaps you have seen the rebadged Mercedes van? This is the sort of thing you can expect to see more of.

Besides, I have driven a Cat powered Pete and my currant work ride is an 07' KW T800 with a C15 and I am not impressed.

Dodge has just announced a 4500 and 5500 series truck for 2008.

I have seen the dodge medium duty truck, in mexico on the island of cozumel. The first time I saw it was a year ago and the one I saw was painted in camo. It looked just like the dodge truck on steroids, or dodgeroids. I think there was also a dump truck one there but that was alot of corona's ago. I duno what engine it had, ill get a pic in a few months when we go back. Im anxious to see the new medium duty toyota truck,lol or the toyota dully. I know some of you guys swear by them but ........ where ever our gm,ford,dodge trucks are made at least the profits go to an american company, i think? Toyota is set to take over ford real soon and dodge has some catching up to do.

Twincreek Remember that 98%of all Ford trucks are still on the road 2% made it back home.
I have a 2005 Dodge Cummons engine 2500 and travel with a 350 Ford truck driver.
He continue beats me about 1 gal. of diesel per fill up and we trade driving each others truck still same .About 16.2 loaded at 12,000 load.
And the Chev. trucks come standard with tow hooks they know the trucks will be needed to be towed.
I just have a hard time getting used to the clatter of the engine in a Ford.

Duramax/Allison is what you need. Great combination. Ford/International can't build a diesel engine worth a F***(who knows what engine Ford will use in a few months from now) and Dodge can't build a tranny. I have the Duramax/Allison combo and couldn't be happier. It's the best...

Are you sure you read this about the Ford 6.4?
Or was this the Ford 6.0. The 6.4 is brand new for this year.
The problems I know of were with the 6.0 and they started back in 2003.
I hope they don't have the same problems with the 6.4.

International came out with a "Pick Up" around 2001 or 2002.
I cost about $96,000 and able to pull 20 tons or so.
I just said why? If you need that just buy a simi.

biggest baddest pickup on the road, thats a cat powered allison driven 4x4 in a 7500 series makes all else look like a matchbox toy. fun as heck to drive to people just get out of your way. You can have yours built in tulsa oklahoma just like the spec opps guys did. You dont need to mass produce them just find someone to build your truck.

I do not know if the Pete or KW would sell. It would seem that they would have to do a lot of R&D for this to work for the simple reason most people by these for some other reason than what they where made for. You would also have to put more service centers because people will break them. If you can't get it fixed you will really have a problem on your hands.

I own an 06 F350 SRW. I would not consider a gasser here in Denver because everywhere I go is uphill. I myself Like Fords and if I needed a bigger truck I would get an F650 or 750. You can put whatever motor and trany you want in it. You can also get the same trim packages as the pickups. As for the new 08 SD's it is an International motor. I do use my truck to haul one of 4 trailers and of course my L48.

I also do not use it for a daily driver. I have a Chevy cavalier for that.

This is just food for thought and in no way am I right or wrong just right for myself. The Pete or KW might be right for others but not for me.

"production" is the key word there, what I posted was a creation for the navy seals and they had a bunch of them built. They are used to pull attack boats out of the water and I had to program and drive every one of them.
