Diesel fuel price

I thought converting liters to gallons was liters times 3.785 instead of 4.5.

For what it is worth, I was listening to a local finance expert on the AM dial and his opinion was that in he near future we will see the price of oil plummet. The reason he said is because right now oil is so over bought that it will have too. Now comes the tricky part, I'm not sure what that means. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Diesel here is $1.99 a gallon. In mid Mi. I'm still getting it for around $1.85. Earlier this year Diesel here was .50 a gallon less than regular !!! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Premium diesel has a DFA additve and a higher cetane rating just as premium gas has fuel injector cleaners and a higher octane. I add DFA and cetane boost to all my fuel.

Well Bird, If my memory from school serves me correctly, gallons to liters is 3.785 and liters to gallons is .026

Gallons to liters, wouldn't you multiply the number of gallons by 3.75 to get the number of liters? And liters to gallons, wouldn't you divide the number of liters by 3.75 to get the number of gallons? That is, one gallon is equal to 3.75 liters?

Precisely Bird. I was confirming your earlier post /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif I was showing strictly multiplication figures. Liters to gallons would multiply the number of liters by .02642 to get the number of gallons.

I see that Texas got drenched and it is all moving MY way! We have an 80% chance of rain this afternoon and a 70% chance all day tomorrow. I guess bush hogging is out of the question for this weekend.

$2 a gallon in Lincoln Mi {northern lower}, and a $1.85 in Monroe, 250 mile difference , on this very same day. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Sorry, I was thinkin canadian again. The US Gallon is actually smaller than the canadian gallon. Here, a canadian gallon is 4.546 litres.

What I want to know is what really determines what is charged for the different types of fuel. Several months ago diesel consistently ran about $.10 a gallon less than unleaded.

Then unleaded went way up in price while diesel went up just a little, making it about $.30 a gallon cheaper.

Now for some reason diesel is about $.08 a gallon higher than unleaded. I can see all fuel going up or down with the price of oil but why the different spreads between diesel and unleaded? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif I doubt the demand for diesel has jumped way up here lately.

I don't understand it all. I'm very suspicious though. A couple of years ago conventional wisdom was believing the power crisis in California was self induced but we've found out different. One has to wonder if they get fuel brokers from the same pool they got the power ones.

The cheapest diesel in the area has dropped to $172.9. That's from $185.9 this time last week. But we have a new Super Walmart in town. I filled up using my Walmart credit card for $160.9. That is amazing when you look around and some of dealers are still trying to sell it for $1.89.9.

Of course I probably used fifty dollars worth of minutes on the cell phone telling family and friends about the bargain. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif
