Well I sent a check today to Canada for the generator. I imagine the fuel issue will get sorted out in due time. Until then, I will use diesel from the gas station and worry no more.
I will let everyone know how everything goes with the transaction, delivery and quality of the product. Thanks for all of the input.

Pretty Sad situation.
When Rudolf Diesel invented the diesel, one of it's main benefits was that the diesel could run on a variety of fuels. Fast forward 100 years or so, and now some copycat Chinese company, ripping off a Japanese design, that they improved in no way at all, has a potential US customer woried about a voided warranty from running a non-road taxed clean fuel. I'd look elsewhere just on the principle of the whole bs.
* Pride has a price.
*Seems the he was willing to pay that price.

Just a thought but maybe they are looking for any reason to deny warranty coverage?

I got the Open Frame. I went through their office in Ontario. I mailed out a check on the 5th and am waiting to hear from them. My Pro/Tran 10-Circuit 30 Amp Generator Transfer Switch Kit arrived but I have been too busy to even take it out of the box.

This is the same unit I have. It has performed well up to this point. I have about 40 hours on it so far.

A pump marked LSD could still be ULSD. ULSD meets the specs for LSD ("not more than...") Do you really think refineries make different batches, store and SHIP different variations? Do you think the local distributor stores and delivers different types?

Dyed diesel fuel is just standard diesel with the dye added to the batch.

I haven't checked with the distributor but my guess is that they add the dye when they put it in the delivery truck. I'll ask next time I get a delivery.

Ken

I have read that some refineries are still producing LSD.

Federal regulations require labels on pumps indicating that type of fuel being sold. If they sell LSD the label should say LSD. Same for USLD.

The stations I use have had USLD for years now. I have not checked the off road pumps since I do not use the stuff myself. People on other sites are reporting LSD for sale.

You can believe it or not.

Later,
Dan

i know all the off road / dyed diesel in my area, the pumps say ULSD. at work when the delivery truck drops off, it's all ULSD as well.

I've been watching this post with interest. I have been in the same decision making quandry. 6000Wt. Diesel or 8000Wt. Gas.....same price. Diesel is THERE for my tractor. Gas goes bad......quandry. I went to the Aurora site....looks good BUT.....they NEVER told you how long their warranty is....says will be listed on the bill of sale:mad: What kind of statement is that?
Soooo, to the OP, what did they tell you , or WHAT do you expect?
Same question for DEX......what is YOUR warranty? BTW, Dex, what FUEL do you use? (I won't tell Aurora:D)
Thanks, I'm about to buy something too.:confused2:

I use USLD. Warranty duration was 1 year or 1000 hours. I bought mine in 12/2009

Something else to consider is that it looks like the same generator as the OPTI generator. All of my paper work had the OPTI 6800DI generator name on it. Looks just like the one I ordered from Aurora

The specs and warranty info(1 Year / 1000 Hour Non Commercial Use) can be found here:

Portable Diesel Generators UL / CSA

It also says "All parts are stocked in both Canada and the USA. Shipping is free of charge under warranty."

Is it your interpretation of this warranty that it covers PARTS only? How about the cost of LABOR and WHERE would one go to have labor done?
The shippping back to the factory would be prohibitive.

I wish Lowes or HD would sell a diesel gen.
Thanks,
Rob
