Diesel Can Spout Mechanism Into the Tank

I was just putting some diesel into my RX7320 PC and the EPA spout mechanism came off and went in the tank.

Is there anything mechanical or otherwise that will be damaged if I run the tractor?

Any ideas on how to get the spout mechanism out?

Is it plastic or metal? If metal maybe you can fish it out with a magnet. If it were mine, I'd get it out.

The spout itself is plastic, although there was spring too.

Straighten out a wire coat hanger and go fishin'.

I need to know because I have an immediate need (maple sap collecting) to use the tractor and get the spout / spring out later.

My guess would be that if there in an in tank pump it has a strainer on it so that would keep anything bad from happening. If there is just an opening in the bottom for the fuel line, they spout is likely too large to block it.
Other than that, I'd say go for it and see what happens. The worst would be the rubber O ring floating around in there causing mischief.

Probably the one on an excavator won't fit your tank spout.
