By current NEC, white must always be neutral. There was provisions previously in NEC for white to not be neutral in limited situations (white to meet NEC had to have tape applied at any exposed ends).
Says the neutral must be white and the white isnt always a neutral. 2 places it isnt, one was mentioned whats the other?

Pretty cool, never knew that but I agree with some of the others. I spent a few bucks on my Klein automatics, so I will stick with those.

Plus, as pragmatic as that may be, if I see someone spinning an outlet around a wire to strip it, I may get the wrong impression...lol.

You only get the wire length gauge/quick connect holes on the back with 15a outlets/14awg wire. Never seen 20a outlets/12awg wire with anything other than the standard side posts. I could be wrong though.

I'm not sure what the brand was, but I have 20A outlets that have connect holes. The difference is they aren't quick connect. After you insert the wire, tightening the side posts clamp the wires in the holes. My electrician brother told me not to trust the 15A quick connect holes but the 20A system is good.

I have seen backstabs 20. Seen them in mobile homes, believe they were Cooper, saw them one other time also.

I see no one jump to the white wire question.
Where is it white and not neutral?

Are you talking specifically about 120/208/240 setups in North America? You have 277/480 where the neutral can also be grey but white, and not a neutral in a 120/208/240 setup? Never seen it.

You have situations like when wiring 3-way switches where the white may carry a load, but it must be taped over black/red. It should actually be done with 3 conductor instead of two that will have a red in it already, but some people get lazy. :) I thought there was a section in the NEC that mentioned conductors smaller than 4awg are not permitted to be tapped off any longer, but its been a while since I looked it up.

When used in 2 wire w/ground in a 240 volt circuit wired with "romex" (black/white/bare ground) ... Or 240 circuit wired with "line cord"...
