Here’s my observations:
1). The “effective“ rate of protection is said to be mol 94%. I’m not good in math, but I think that means for every 100 instances, 94 will be protected. Some simple math reveals that 6 of those 100 will NOT be protected. When we start talking about sub-1% infection, seems that even the 94% is a huge underestimation.
2). Why is it that when hundreds of doctors or other reputable health care professionals, some with degrees and work experience going back 30-40 years and specialize in infectious disease says “take the vaccine, it’s safe and effective” they are mocked and insulted, but a member of an anonymous social group or some politician (who is a doctor of NOTHING) says, “ it’s dangerous” some folks will believe that without any hesitation or credible proof?
If my car dealer says change the oil in your car every 5000 miles, I’ll believe him before I believe the guy who serves my Happy Meal at McD, who says you can go 20,000 between oil changes.
As for us, we got our vaccines early on and couldn’t be happier. The sense of relief FAR outweighed the few minor reactions we got. The first was hardly noticeable and I worked hard the day after the second shot, which may have warded off some of the more pronounced symptoms other folks got.
A friend of mine spent 20 days in the hospital in August with Covid and his reaction to the first shot was very pronounced. The second shot was even more so. Guess it varies with your genetics.
We know 5 people in our community, on a first name basis, who died from it, just in our small, rural setting here. My friend was almost Number 6. Some had underlying circumstances, like age and dementia. You can deny the cause of death all you want, but they would be alive right now without Covid, barring natural, normal circumstances.
