I was at Lowes day before yesterday, wearing a mask, even though i've been fully vaccinated, because i had to pick up a piece of pipe to replace a bad leak. That's why i was in Lowes, the reason i was wearing an N95 was because i know some people that have not been vaccinated, will not wear a mask. The reason i was taking that precaution, is i'm going to be going to my sister's place in two weeks to take care of her while her husband is out of town. The reason i'm taking care of my sister, is because she has cancer and her white blood count isn't good, so her immune system is compromised and she CAN'T take any vaccine.

I get some people are scared that's ok, but those the have made this pandemic a fake freedom thing, i have no patience for these "freedom fighters"
On which side of your mask did the covid virus become trapped? And what have you done with those trapped virus?

Really, What did you acomplish by wearing the N95 mask to Lowes? I have no patience for good intentions.

People need to read Fatjays posts. Is he an expert? I don’t know exactly what his job is but he knows a lot more about it than rest of us and 99% more about it than what you read or hear on the news.

I am a land surveyor with 36 years experience. That is one of the few areas I consider myself an expert. If I post about that, I consider it to be good info. People need to listen to the experts and get an informed opinion.
Thank you, but I'm not an expert, in fact, the more I learn, the more I realize I don't know. I do track infectious diseases for a living, and track their related diagnosis and treatments, look for patterns and trends. The mistake i see a lot of people making is that they are looking for absolutes, and there are very few absolutes in science, because it's always changing.

I do know that masks work at curving the spread of disease, covid or otherwise. Lets look at flu cases briefly, 5 year trend, because we have a lot of data on that already. There's between 30-70 million US cases of flu a year, and between 30-70k deaths. That's a mortality rate of ~0.1%, vaguely. But if we look at the 2020 chart, we basically killed the flu. Sure, there are some undiagnosed cases due to people not going to the doctor as much. But from 30-70 million to virtually nothing?

I am still amazed how much my first Moderna vaccine from two weeks continues to improve my general feeling of well-being.

Last night my sister called to tell me Monday morning she got her first Moderna shot. Her side effects floored me.

I knew her diabetes was out of control for long time like 200 on waking. Tuesday morning she said it was at 100 and 98 yesterday.

Yesterday the arthritis in her hands let her do yard work all day for the first time in a long time.

About a year ago she got very sick and was in bed 10 days and had been dragging every since until the last two days.

She reports no negative side effects after getting the vaccine on Monday.

I am still thinking through the WHY of our health improvements beyond our genes and the Moderna vaccine.

This is what happened according to what I read (on the Internet)...

Years ago the aliens from outer space that were observing us humans were mesmerized by all the movies and TV shows about zombies we earthlings were watching...

...so they came up with a plan to create an actual Zombie Apocalypse just to see if it could be done...The first phase of the plan was to create a virus that would scare the masses into allowing themselves to be injected with a "vaccine" (hehehe) that was loaded with nanobots (subatomic computer driven machines) that when triggered can take over the mind of their hosts...

...Supposedly the final stage of the plan is when they deem enough earthlings have been "vaccinated" (hehehe) they will send the signal from outer space that will instantly turn everyone that has been vaccinated into a zombie...
You sound like my son . . .

The day I got my second Pfizer shot, I cane home and lifted weights wanted to work the muscles and get blood flow going. The next day I was mostly good just exhausted. Took 2 hours sick time in the afternoon to sleep. Had a headache and nightsweats for about 3 days. That has passed and I feel more or less normal. But I dont feel superhuman or anything like that.

I expect you had functional health before getting the Covid-19 Vaccine. I haven't seen any data that Moderna or Pfizer makes one feel super human. After my first shot I was able to do my usual 1/4 walk without stopping a few times to rest for the first time in 2021.

I got Johnson & Johnson one shot. Burning sensation where needle went lasting 10 seconds. Next morning very minor flu-like symptoms for an hour...then went out and did hard work all day feeling great. Felt fine since.
I can't get my AM radio station 1050 now because of the micro chip implant though.

okay, I shouldn't but... I never learn.
there is no doubt that the cases are down and the flu is pretty much non existent.
these are facts, yes.
many attribute that to mask wearing. so, there are multiple types of N95, some are vented some are not. so a virus could move out but be restricted on inhalation... or not.
the material is N95 not the mask.
now, lets talk about fit. When I used to wear a respirator -N95 cartridges - I was fitted every year. Not all over the counter N95s are sized and the paper ones I used to wear did not stop things as well as the cartridge types. More over, how many people wear them correctly. I have seen several that did not know how to fit the nose piece. many more that cut the straps so they did not fit the face correctly. even more that didn't try to form the mask to their faces at all.
In a clinical setting with trained users, yes they can be effective. in the real world... Not so much. Also, most people never wore N95 masks. (and I do argue this point with a clinition.)
I think there are some major errors in the study... just sayin'
Now, the government also shut down all the schools, restaurants, businesses, churches, ball games, much of the transportation systems and other things that kept people away from each other. Let's not forget the massive hygiene campaigns and mandates.
I remember years back there was a study in Iceland. it seemed they had very little flu type illnesses after tourist season was over and they became isolated again.
so, should people wear masks... doubt it hurts. Are masks the reason things are getting better... I doubt they hurt. Is it all of the above things that we did and a nation... most likely.
what we should learn but, I doubt we will: practice good hygiene and be courteous to all.
thanks. rant over.

Sorry I didn't sign up for the articulation contest...

...The two main reasons for the reduced flu numbers are...kids were not in schools (petri dishes) and people that did have it were not out spreading it around...public transportation was down...sporting events and concerts were not happening...

Sure you should, expressing your views and opinions in healthy debate is how knowledge is spread and things are figured out. Putting your fingers in your ears and screaming, not so much.

I wasn't referring to n95's, just the cloth masks. Viruses are fairly light, a slight breeze, such as exhaling, will project the virus a good distance, where the cloth mask generally keeps your breath in your immediate area. It's not a filtration device, it's a keep your breath to yourself device, it was never meant to catch the virus. I have yet to see any evidence that contradicts that, and a lot of evidence that supports it, one of which is how the flu has not spread almost at all compared to previous years.

I'm certainly not in any position of authority to decide who or what should be shut down. However, had I done it, I probably would have not shut things down but would have risk scores. Obviously taking away people's livelihoods is not a long term solution and is not sustainable and would create an unreasonable burden on them. Restaurants shutting down is crippling people's business, I would have focused on a way to get them open while minimizing risk. Same with schools, businesses, churches, etc. Then, assign a risk score, so people would know that they're going into a higher risk situation, and allow people to evaluate things on their own. Give the people the information they need to make smart decisions for themselves. But instead they've created a bunch of deniers or refusers, as well as a bunch of people locked in their basement scared to go out. And neither are really helping the situation.

You just insulted the man for caring for a cancer patient. Maybe that wasn't your intention, but it sure came across that way.

Interesting. My A1C dropped from 7.4 to 5.6, and my total cholesterol was 94 just a couple weeks ago, a month and a half past my second shot. I see no way to hang that on the vaccine, but the body is a strange and wondrous thing.

I think flu cases dropped because they closed the schools. Children are little pest holes. I dread my next cold. It has been 2 years since my last one, and my immunity has probably evaporated.

I don't get sick as a rule, which I attribute to staying active and not being around people much. A local conspiratist who still believes that Covid is a farce told me there was as much flu as normal this year, it's just been attributed to Covid.

Another great video from Hansen concerning that was found doing COVID autopsies.
Without my glasses I counted 28 emboli in the dye contrast CT scan of my lungs done on Easter weekend. My right leg is starting to look semi normal in size and color. I wish more doctors would watch this video.

The "experts" said, "we need two weeks of restrictions in order to flatten the curve".

That wasn't enough for them. Then the experts said something else.

I'm no expert. I'm sick of experts.
I never heard of any expert that said two weeks of restrictions would flatten the curve.

You have to be able to discern between those talking heads who claim to be experts, and those that actually have the credentials to be considered experts. Every "real" expert I have heard recommend practices to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 has freely admitted that this virus is unlike most others we have experience with. And, given the rate of infection, the large number of asymptomatic carriers and lack of action to lock things down hard early in the pandemic made sure it was widely spread before measures were taken.
