Did I kill my tractor? B7800 HST

Highly unlikely you did any damage. I would have thought the the B7800 would have a "shift on the fly" 4WD.

Gears are gears...occasionally, they don't mesh.

Haha, I have been caught a few times with shorts on, and given myself a wedgie already. It only happens if I get off the right side though.

Thanks for all the psots here gang, this is a great resource for newbies to this tractor like me. I retired my '53 Ford NAA Jubilee, I was unable to keep up with the maintenance on it, I put a loader on it that was giving me trouble and went to the Kubota. I still have the Ford, I am sentimentally attached to it, but I would consider selling it to a good home. It only has 300 hours on it.

Am relieved to hear that the Kubota may not be damaged. It seems odd that the tractor will allow you to do something that could damage it when the manual says it is important to stop and shift to 4WD; one would think the lever would stick to prevent it. I guess it isn't idiot proof, either that or I'm a better idiot.

Roy,

The transmission is a shift on the fly as long as the fron and rear wheels are traveling at similar speeds.

...try it on a tight turn and all the operator will hear is ugly noise.

-Cheers!
