Deutz-Allis

I just went buy a local tractor dealer,they have a Deutz-Allis 5215 there.
This thing is built like a tank, it's 18 hp . It looks like it would weigh
as much as 2 of my little 1220's.
Any body else see or here of one of these tractors?

Tom, Never seen one of those, but when I was in Germany in 74-77, Mangus Deutz was popular with the Bavarian farmers. Maybe someone else knows for sure but I would think this is a tractor is a result of Fiat buy outs.

Not sure of the specific model, but an old-timer neighbor has a 40'ish hp one. What a tank, he uses it to farm 300+ acres and I see everthing imaginable hooked up to it. Said never had any problems. Saw him pull a compact out of a bog in 2WD with minimal effort. Even pulled our garbage man's truck out of a snow bank with no trouble. Needless to say, he's the negihborhood go-to-guy when someone needs real pulling power!

The 5215 replaced the 9518 simplicity and the Allis Chalmers 5015. These tractors were made in Japan by Hinomoto for both Allis and MF until they went out of business. I had a 5015 for almost 10 years with the synchromesh tranny and it was THE best tractor I have ever had in terms of Quality, fit-and-finish and smooth operation, just a little allergic to cold weather in Maine. The Toyosha diesel had a really small starter but I think they corrected that with the 52 series. This engine is much nicer that the Mitsi. I would love to find a 5220 hydro with about 50 hours and turf tires with a loader. I would swap my Case/IH 1120 (Mitsubishi and Cub Cadet) for it in a heatbeat. The only problem is that some of the parts are extremely expensive for these tractors. Tachometer cable about 20" long cost me about $125.00 before I sold it. Grab The Tractor!
