I have a small demo job that has a lot of long purlins, sheet metal, and a few ibeams. The ibeams we will probably cut with a torch unless there is another option.

I have a cutting torch and a reciprocating saw and can get a bigger angle grinder and metal cutoff blade. Any other options for cutting the purlins and lighter metal efficiently and safely? I rather not use the torch on everything but we have to cut a lot of material into 18' lengths for the owner. I want to do it as safely as possible.

Thanks for the advice.

More details are needed here.

How big are the I-beams? How big are the purlins? Is this stuff going to be re-used?

A torch or plasma is hands down going to be the quickest. But it will also leave the ugliest cuts. Fine if it is going to scrap. Not fine if it is going to be re-used.

If The purlins arent too big, possibly a portable band saw?
