I’ve been searching for a 3/4”-10 acme nut for the stop on my drill press. The od is 0.745 and threads per inch are 10 as close as I can measure.
Help appreciated

3/4-10 is probably not acme threads. Probably just standard threads.

Have you tried just a cheap hardware 3/4-10 nut to see?

My Delta stop rod has an acme thread...

See my post above. Someone on Ebay is offering that very part.

Delta did make, or had made, a wide range of drill presses, and some had some unusual threads, so I would be careful. I know that I have a very similar nut, and it is not ACME threads. The 3/4" ACME size would 3/4-6. On my drill press, the nut is actually two knurled jam nuts with a rubber washer/o-ring between them, as shown in @90cummins' photo.

@90cummins Do you have a model number and an age for your press? I would put the 3/4-10 in the trust but verify category by buying a 3/4-10 nut and see if it fits, as @LD1 wrote above. From a distance, those threads do not appear to be ACME, but I would not put much weight in that.

All the best,

Peter

Yep, I saw the post, and the expensive nut. Doesnt call out what thread it is. And just because the thread looks "flattened" doesnt always mean its an acme thread. If he has the model of the drillpress I am sure it can be sourced

Vintage machinery has lots of manuals and folks who have rebuilt them. I have found it a very helpful source.

All the best,

Ha... it looks like an acme to me!

I'm on Vintage Machinery alot too. Way more people looking for cheap parts than offering them. So many tire kickers.

If you think $35 is too much, try making one. I have a metal lathe. Cost out an acme tap, straight knurling tool, getting parts plated... he isn't getting rich.
