Deere extended warranty?
Still shopping around, but had a question about extended warrranty. Normally I don't think they are a good deal, but not so sure when it comes to tractors.
If I remember correctly the local JD dealer stated that Deere has a 3 year warranty on the power train and 2 on most other things. The local dealer extends the power train an additional 2 years on certain parts at no charge ( http://www.hammondtractor.com/assets/CUT5YR.pdf).
However in reading as many posts as I can it sure seems like repairs can really take a big bite if not covered under warranty. I think the Deere extended warranty was "bumper to bumper" so to speak.

So any thoughts are the extended warranties a good idea?

I went with one because in the whole grand scheme of things it was $700 for 6 years of full coverage. The catch is, the hours limit doesn't change, so what the dealer told me is they do that to limit commercial applications from home applications. I did the rough hours calculations and I think I'll be fine. I typically tell the people at best buy and wherever else to take the service plan and stick it but I didn't want to worry about ~20k worth of stuff.

small money for piece of mind.

On a sidenote, which tractor did you narrow it down to!!??

You'll have to hit Mac's grille to celebrate your new green purchase :)

Haven't parted with any money yet. Wanted to see the new 1000s, before doing anything. There is an open house this weekend at the local JD dealer in Auburn. I had been waiting for some time to see the new 1026R model that was supposed to be there, but from what I read it most likley will not .

I am going as the ad said "Discounts, special financing" so I am curious about that part.

Still hoping that Deere marketing will have a huge push (incentive) when these tractors are finally available to get them out the door. I imagine there is another JD factory picture somewhere this time with all the new 1000s series stacked up waiting for whatever the "fix" is.
