Deere 4020 went for $50,000

Interesting because my friend that the only job he has ever had is working for the local JD dealer says just the opposite. Deere is trying to force dealers to quit selling 2-banger parts. Two of my neighbors who both have 70 diesels are complaining that "good" parts are getting harder to find.

Someone has blown smoke up your tail end.....Deere makes a tremendous amount of money selling 2-banger parts to this day. No, OEM parts won't be available for all of eternity. 70's are nearing 60 years old. At some point "original" parts produced 60 years ago will run out. Deere dealers ALL have access to licensed aftermarket "re-pop" parts to fill the void. Who knew 50....60...100 years ago they would need to fill warehouses full of parts for their tractors....Who knew they would be so popular so many years later?

My son is in the final stages of restoring a 1958 #55 combine. He's bought all sorts of parts for it, sold right across the parts counter at our nearest Deere dealer. So far, NOTHING he's ordered has been "NLA".

You can even buy parts for OTHER BRANDS of older tractors through Deere dealers parts dept. Not a lot of young service techs OR parts people who're experienced in the subject of 60 year old tractors, but "Mother Deere" still offers access to parts.....original AND reproduction. Too much money to be made to ignore the market for them.......

Deere didn't get where they're at today by neglecting opportunities to sell very profitable items to devoted customers. Deere knows full well the "value" of embracing their heritage. The idea that Deere is "officially" ignoring 2-cylinder owners is pure nonsense to say the very least.
