got the motor together, no fuel pump so filled the oil, water fuel and pulled the lever out the old pump, if you have never pulled the lever out its basically a fork that pulls a diaphram down whivh as the fork returns on the cam the diaphram returns under spring pressure and sucks gas, next cycle pushes gas out and sucks the next shot,
anyway the fork had spread between diaphran plunger and side of casting locking it up, set it back up, put it in motor and turned motor over, darn same thing so the push rod riding on camshaft travels more than the pump lever will thus locking it up solid, fulled the spring and lever out of pump now its a blank to stop oil leaks.
motor started with huge plumes of white smoke from the exhaust, this cleared up and the cause was coolant leaking from head removal running down into exhaust, once it evaporated off runs like a top.
we also replaced the power steering hoses they were rubbed thro and weeping, would have needed replacing shortly anyway, still have to mount the deck and back mowing, total cost 2 days and about 800 dollars in parts.
be hard to find a mower for this price and hopefully last another 10 years
