Deciding between Kubota B7800 or L2800 and New Holland TC30

Bigger rear tires make for a smoother ride on rough ground. If your 12 acres is something other than lawn and if you don't like being jostled around while you're working; you might find the L-series Kubotas or the TC30 easier to live with than the smaller tractors.

I can attest that rough ground will slow me down significantly on the B7610; though I suppose running the tires a bit soft would soak up some of the bumps.

3 cylinder vs. 4? Not worth wasting time on. Both are good and the 3 cylinder gives up nothing in smoothness.

I have had a b7800 for 4 years now and have just under 500 hours. It has been an excellent tractor for my 100 acres. Bigger would have been better, but I plan to cut about 4 acres of grass and the light weight with the R4's was a factor. I snow blow 1 mile of driveway every winter, with drifts as high as 5 feet. This winter will be the first with chains. HST is the only way to go. Much better productivity. For the heavier work, the light weight 7800 suffers a little.

About 12 acres of a 12 degree slope, general use and would also need a backhoe, auger, tiller.

TC30 price was 14,999 for tractor with loader which seems a lot less expensive than the B7800 hsd-f for 16,198 or L2800 hst-f for 16,454. The kubota guy was really pushing the B7800 because it was 4 cylinder vs. 3 for the TC30.

Any thoughts?[/QUOTE

I own both in my small fleet. They are both equal tractors for performance, but NH has two weaknesses over the years for me. If you live were there are rodents; they wiil nest/eat the wiring, deposit their waste, and residual food on the manifolds, and make themselves comfortable in the instrument panel costing you $$ for repairs, (NH 1720) if the tractor is stored outdoors; even if it is covered. The second problem that will happen in a given period of engine hours, again with NH only, is the weak design of water pumps, which cost $300; if you replace it yourself?

The Kubotas have been absolutely trouble free, and the oldest one, a L295DT
had it's 30th birthday! Kubota is an ''in house Corp." and build all their own components, and rodent have never been a problem either! I still like the different features of each tractor.

I have four Kubotas, and two New Hollands. Maybe NH has addressed those problems since 2000!?

Just did a similar dance and included a few JD as well. Bought the NH T1520 because of fit, PTO HP, dealer, 0% plan, and brother's long term success with a 1710.

No bad choices here, one will feel better and a dealer will become more comfortable than others. If you have significant ground work you may appreciate a Kubota with more than the 7800's 22 PTO HP.

Good Hunting.

I have no advice other than what has already been written except: Do your homework, visit all the dealers you can, learn as much as you can about all the brands offering the compact size you will need. Do not make this decision too quickly. When you read or hear of an advantage or disadvantage of any item on a particular tractor, determine how that would affect you in what you wish to do with it. Keep in mind that more power may not be better if you don't need it. Less power is less fuel burn. When I did my homework, the L2800 came out on top, especially when I considered cost. The PTO and 3 point lift do not affect me as much as some folks.
As far as 3 cylinders or 4. There is no advantage to 4 cylinders over 3. We sometime believe more is less prone to vibration, but the worst vibration offenders is the 4 cylinder. It by pure math means two pistons straight up and 2 down. 720 degrees divided by 4 is always 180. Any other configuration will produce less vibration.
All the best to you in this expensive decision, let us know what you decide.

I am buying the L3400 this week. I put the B7800 and L2800 side by side and found the L series has a more stout rear end and 3 point mounts.
