Decent scratch resistant safety/sunglasses?

I have a pair of Wiley X that I use strictly for sunglasses and love them. They fit me well and I prefer the rubber nose piece which mine have. Keep an eye out for promotions/sales on them.

I'm not following you here, Paul. Why not spend $209, take the $115 reimbursement, and enjoy your $209 sunglasses for $94 out of pocket? Still not cheap, but if they're the tool that gets the job done...

That is what I might do, but im a cheap butt, and if I can double dip, and pay nothing out of pocket, I would prefer to do that.

Personally I'd still be reticent because I've become quite used to being somewhat careless with my eye protection, and "scratch resistant" doesn't actually go that far. If I could double-dip and not pay anything, or just a light payment, I'd consider it, but $90 is still a very large box of cheap ones that I can throw out when they get scratched.

Absolutely.
Currently I'm lucky enough to wear contact lenses most of the time, so I can go super cheap.

Some day (probably sooner than later) I'll have to go prescription and likely have a costly period when I learn to take care of my glasses again...

I could never get used to contacts. Funny thing; maybe a month or two ago, me and wife have like a 10:30 and 11 optometrist appointments. He brings us back together, and she says she wants to try contacts. He says "you can't wear them at work in a hospital, too much bacteria, splatter, ect" they take her out to try some; and the old man optometrist asks me "what the heck is she thinking, that suddenly at 38 y/o all the sudden she wants contacts".

I've worn contacts for 30 or so years. A few years ago I made the switch to daily use contacts, which has worked out very well. I was not good at removing my extended wear lens at night and cleaning them, so the inside of my eyelids would get irritated and cause all kinds of issues. While the dailies aren't cheap, I like just taking them out at the end of the day and throwing them away, fresh new pair every day.

I didn’t get my laser eye surgery until my mid-30’s. Only regret was that I waited that long, should’ve done it sooner!

Contacts get the job done, wore them for decades, but obvious inconvenience and risks.

I posted this earlier, regarding losing or damaging your safety glasses. I use Crossfire safety glasses daily as my sunglasses (Model: Crossfire 2141). They've been more scratch resistant than many of the other brands I've tried. However, the real key is using a retainer to hang them around your neck, at the ready. I use the Chums original cotton retainer with the standard ends. They make many other styles too. The key is to find the retainer model with the correct end. The Crossfire glasses have straight frame ends.
