There have got to be some antiques enthusiasts in this forum...

I just rescued a Dearborn Sicklebar mower from the scrap heap. Now I have to figure out how it works.

I can see that it's set up for a 3 point hitch, but when I hook it all up, the sickle bar part is pointing straight up in the air and I can't figure out how to get it back to the ground.

Does someone out there have a picture of one of the Dearborns attached to their tractor? Does anyone have any advice on how this all is supposed to hook together?

Sounds like the pivot for the sickle bar is rusted (wd-40/heat/hammer) may free it up. Basically it is 3 point hitch with the long trip arm going under the right rear axle for securing on your stabilizer bracket pin. This mower wont work on most compacts or sub compact tractors--Ken Sweet

If you have questions regarding old tractors/implements you should look here . There are lots of experts on older equipment that will help.

Thanks, Steve.

I followed the link and got the info I needed. It looks like "Sweettractors" is right about the pivot being rusted. I'll have to get a bigger hammer.
