A friend I worked with bought a Kioti from a local dealer a few years ago. Just a month after the sale, the dealer switched to Mahindra. He had to drive almost 50 miles to the nearest Kioti dealer for parts and warranty work. He got a form of revenge though when the original dealer went out of business late last year.
I'm fortunate to live just 4 miles from a Kubota "mega" dealer. When shopping for a tractor back in 1979, I got the best price from a small dealer in a neighboring state. I had heard stories about small dealers switching brands so I paid more and bought local. Sure enough, the smaller dealer went out of business the following year.
Yes, I know I could have bought out of state and had service done locally but I wanted to establish a relationship with the local dealer.
Over the next 40 years, I bought 6 more Kubota tractors and many implements from them. I'm a loyal customer and they treat me as such.
Unfortunately, not everyone is as fortunate as I. Even so, it can sometimes be beneficial to buy from a larger, more "brand loyal" dealer than a smaller one close by.
