daylight saving time

/ daylight saving time #21
I do reset the clocks twice a year, after I got to this website to make sure my watch (which I seldom wear) is right, then I reset all the other clocks by my watch.:D We have an alarm clock/radio in the bedroom that simply has a switch on the side to turn Daylight Savings Time on or off. It's a good clock with a big LCD? display, but it's been so long since I set an alarm, I'd have to get the manual out to see how to do it. And I guess (certainly don't know for sure) that the radio works, since we never turn on a radio anymore.

What if most of us refuse to go off daylight savings time next year?

If we get more than 1/2 the country to go along with us, we could bring a lot of pressure on the rest.

It all starts here, The "JUST SAY NO TO FALL BACK!" campaign for 2009. :D

We need some one who is popular to be the front man, any volunteers?

I volunteer Bird! :D

That will keep him busy and I might catch up to his number of posts so I can be an Epic Contributor..... :D:D:D:D

If I thought I'd have any chance of succeeding, I'd take the job.:D But I wouldn't even know where to start.:D

*I leave my watch set on daylight savings time the year around and take an hour off what it says in the winter time.

I do that because I got tired of changing it twice a year..
Has worked out very well with me.
I've probably been doing that for 10 to 15 years or longer.

I figured you would have two watches just alike, just different times. JC

Cell phone easier to get to and uses the same time.

I have a CasioWave Ceptor watch, has a weird way of resetting the time, had to look at the manual for the last 3 time changes.
Went to change the sprinkler system...oops, stays on standard time
same with the deer feeders, I let the corn run out the after Thanksgivin anyway
truck/cars, easy to change

All in all, I miss daylight in the evening.

Is this because iyou have a hard time changing it back and forth. Seams like I would keep forgetting and I would be early or late for things.

The truck clock is a pain to change for me as I keep forgetting how to set it.

The time zone floats over Arizona, 1/2 the year your on mountain time, 1/2 on mountain time.

Living in Arizona, It is as confusing as the above statement.
1/2 the year we are on Mountain Time, 1/2 the year we are on Pacific Time.

I work in Las Vegas from time to time, 1/2 the year I can get to and from Las Vegas in in about 2 and 1/2 hours.

Then 1/2 the year I can get to Las Vegas in about 1 and 1/2 hours, but it takes me about 3 and 1/2 hours to get home. I hope I cleared this up about Arizona without confusing anyone.

Ok Bird, your elected. We've got a front man, now we need a strategy.

How do we get the word out?

There are enough great minds on here to do this, we just need a plan.

The prominent English builder and outdoorsman William Willett conceived DST in 1905 during a pre-breakfast ride, when he observed with dismay how many Londoners slept through a large part of a summer day.

Take a vote on how many want DST all year round.

Vote # 1 is my vote to keep it all year

Next person will be vote # 2; and so on. We will see how high the vote goes.

I've been doing it so long it just comes natural.
So forgeting is not a problem.
Way easier and simpler for me than setting the clocks and watches twice a year.

See the post by Dm above.. ben beat him too it by quite a few years!

As for watches.. i stopepd wearing one.. 1, because they get beat up so much me working on tractors.. and 2, I have a pretty good sense of time passage.. usually accurate to within about 5-10 minutes over the course of the day... 3, if i really.. really need one.. my cell phone has one that is always up to date due to tower time..

I hate this fall back/ spring ahead an hour business. So, I propose we gradually change to and from DST, like 2 minutes per day, except on Tuesdays when we move 3 1/4 minutes. In leap years we will have to add another 1/2 minute on those days that have the letter "r" in them. No wait, it gets better...

I think you only want to make those adjustments on the second Tuesday of each week.
