Davis backhoe

It wasn't my first choice, but the price was right. I think it will make a good project for this summer. The pin fits are in good shape, but the hydraulics will need to be rebuilt/replaced. It says Davis on the data plate so i'm guessing it's pretty old. Does anyone know how to date something like this just for curiosity sake?

Did it come off of a Davis trencher or a Massey Ferguson?

Any number on the data plate?

The guy I bought it from thought it came off a trencher, but didn't know anything else about it. I've got a pic of the data plate I can post later, I just can't seem to do it from my phone.

Tenneco owned J.I. Case and bought Davis in 1968, so will be newer than that.

Call a Case Construction Equipment dealer and give the parts guy the model and serial number on the ID tag.

Thanks for that, gives me an idea of how old it is. yeah I'm going to call a Case dealer sooner or later.
