Another common issue is the distributor cap and Rotary button can corrode. Sometimes it causes a weak fire and will seem like a fuel issue. Just take the cap off and use a knife to scrape the corrosion off. We use to do that all the time on ours to get it running again.

My 8N also has a front mounted distributor, couple years ago the coil went bad so I bought a new coil from Carqust and was amazed at how easy it was to install, the tractor starts better now than it ever did before. The coil didn’t cost much and it has a free lifetime replacement warranty.

If it is still 6 volt as my 1950 8N was before converting to 12 volt. Be careful about jumping as it was positive ground 6 volt.
