Dragging does not necessarily work better than pushing

Yeah, those are all priced for a home/property owner! Plus, I think dragging works better than pushing.

Yep, with a front mount, you are driving a on smooth flat surface when pushing.

And you can also pull it in reverse and use the rippers if needed.

Yes and with front mount, you also have down pressure, not like rear implements that are weight driven only. (Unless you step up to bigger industrial units)

Can't you use quick attach for a TLB the same way? Front mount.

A used skid steer is more bang for the buck. Used 2007 JD 317 with 1800 hours cost me $14,500. I'm looking for a used tractor of comparable HP and the prices are $5k more.

Skid steer is terrible in a bumpy pasture & good attachments are twice as expensive. Is great at digging post holes, brush hogging in the thickest stuff, clearing land, moving dirt

Tractor is far better at "farm" work like plowing an making hay. Bucket is way out front and hard to see.

If I were to only have 1 I'd get a tractor.

That tit tach is pretty awesome. And, it should be for $3k just for the ability to tilt.

If money were no object, I'd definitely have a brand new Skidsteer with all the attachments, and probably one of those uber cool telehandlers as well.

However, looking at the prices for skidsteer attachments, I'd only be able to afford one or two.

See here for some examples. Skid Steer Attachments - Everything Attachments

Even I'll admit, that is pretty freakin cool!

YOU ARE KILLING ME WITH YOUR GREAT TOYS!!!!!!

I was gainfully employed for 34 years with good retirement plans and a 401k. Have been retired for 15 years and at 76 years old, well into my second childhood and in complete control of it.

I use a grading scraper to groom my drive. Don't see a SS doing that. At least not very well.

I have a tractor and a skid steer. I bought a Road Boss LPGS and always use it with my skid steer. I have never even hooked it to my tractor. It works great on the skid steer. I have a 100' x 200' or so gravel equipment yard I maintain with it as well as a about a mile of dirt roads. The way it is designed you can hook the skid steer on either side so you can push it the normal way for aggressive action or you can flip it around for the final smoothing without digging in.

It wouldn't matter, you'd probably be disinherited anyway.

But you could "play" with them in the meantime. :D

6 months after I bought my tractor I realised I'd made 2 mistakes: the first was buying a backhoe. The second was not buying a skidsteer. Buying a skid steer would have been better for the majority of the work I do.

Backhoe tasks are done much easier by using a rental mini-x

I've been gainfully employed for 36 years with good retirement plan and 401k. Then my retirement pension got frozen at 21 years of service, we had two kids, the economy tanked, the company I work for is on the skids and I'm 55..... and better off than most folks, so not complaining here!!! I planned on working till 67. I may be able to retire at 63 when my last gets done with college. All things considered, we're right on track with how we thought things would go. The key was the 401K. We've always put 15% into it, rain or shine. Glad we did. Many of my coworkers were counting on the pension alone. Now their struggling to save for retirement. We are fortunate. Knock on wood!

A skid steer would work better for most of my work except one major draw back. 85 percent of the work I do is either on grass or concrete. The concrete is severely weathered and chipping up and would quickly wear the tires off. The skid steer would be too destructive to use on the grass.

Xfaxman, I'm going to have to ask you to refrain from posting more pictures of your telehandler. It's giving me an extreme case of envy. :D
