Well I finally got my custom bale fork today. Don't have any bales yet to put it to use, but I did manage to pick up 8 stacked rail road ties in the back yard. It did a nice job.

It's quick-attach and imatch compatible, so it'll fit on the front or the rear. I intend to move 900lb square bales on the front and the occaisional 5X6 round bale on the back.

The fork has a nice low profile so it's also ideal as a pallet fork. Nice bonus cuz I wasn't expecting that feature when I negotiated it as part of my deal. Now I have to find stuff to move around with pallets :D

Here are some pictures, if you're interested. Let me know what you think.

PS> Any ideas on how much something like this is worth?

Nice job on the bale fork.
Is the lower wrap around guard stock or did you make it? I haven't seen one like it before on that model of tractor. Maybe I just missed them if they are stock. If you made it how about some pictures?

Did you make that or have it made?

They were made by a friend of the dealer. The dealer and manufacturer are curious how i make out with them. He's thinkin about building some more.

It weighs about the same as the bucket, maybe a touch more.

We were joking about using it to roast marshmallows at the next bonfire :D

I used to play chicken on the road with the other local JD owners. Now with the spear, no one's gonna wanna play with me no more:(

Hello everyone.. I know you all like pictures, so here's a couple more...

I put my bale fork to use today... woo hooo!!! It's been killing me not having any bales around to do some liftin'. Still don't have any around yet but I found some other stuff that needed moving around.

I don't know what these railway ties weight, but I can only lift up each end to move them around by hand, so maybe 120lbs... maybe?!? The tractor could only lift the load you see in the picture about 3 ft off the ground. I only had the 5ft box blade on for ballast yet the whole machine felt very stable as I was manuevering it across the yard.

From what I can tell so far, the fork seems to work extremely well. I'm looking forward to trying it with some larger square bales when they finally come. :D Right now the farmers are waiting for some dry weather so they can get out on the fields and bring in their first cut of the season.

enjoy the pics.
