hey guys here is my question: how are the new cub cadet lawn tractors campared to the ones before mtd owned them? my uncle just bought a place with just under an acre of moweble lawn and was wondering if this was a good alternitave to a small kubota or jd or such?

Cub Cadet, John Deere, Simplicity, all made great machines. In the past they were downright indestructible. Full frames, cast iron transaxles, front ends, engines, etc. But to compete with the much lower priced "mass market" machines alot of changes had to be made. So what you buy nowadays does not completely match what these companies have produced in the past as far as quality. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that these guys are putting out junk. But compared to what their name was built on, it's a whole new ballgame now.
It seems now the most important issues are how reputable and commited your dealer is to service after the sale.
