The left side will not reverse. No linkage broken and I have not been able to adjust it to where it will back up. It seems like the left side is not as smooth as the right side. It will go forward though. Any ideas or thoughts would be appreciated Thanks in advance.

I've seen lots of posts in regards to left side drive failure on Hydro-Gear EZT drive equipped machines. Seems to happen around the ~200hr mark. Try a search for "EZT" or "RZT".

It was moisture contamination in some or some sort of internal failure on others. Unfortunately they're not cheap to replace.

Dang thats to bad what year is it? and how many hours on it? I just bought the Z-Force 48 sure want to avoid haveing the same problem. Vince

First thing is to check the drive belt...when that gets worn it seems like it is the left side that starts to slip.

I used to wonder why it was always the left side you heard went bad. After mowing twice now with my new Z-Force 48 I know why. You circle everything on the left side that you want to mow around must wear it out faster, not sure what you can do about that

Along with checking the belt also check that the spring loaded idler can pivot on the shaft. There's a grease fitting for it that most people don't know about and eventually the idler doesn't put any tension on the belt. Depending on what year yours is the idler pulley may be plastic and they wear out. I had to replace mine last year and the new one they sent me was metal.
