All,

I have a Cadet 7205 with a hydrostatic transmission that is howling and barely moving the tractor. I think the tranny is bad, but i am wondering if this is a rebuildable item and if anyone has any idea's on how much this might run me in parts.

thanks

That doesn't sound good (no pun intended). Still, before assuming the worst have you checked fluid levels, confirmed that you are using the proper fluid, are the filters fresh and the correct ones, etc?

I'm sure that there are others on the forum that can give you more detailed advice for diagnosing your particular model, but be sure that you have not overlooked the obvious things first. I know hydros can be touchy regarding the fluids and filters so maybe you might luck out and find a relatively simple (and inexpensive) solution to your problem. Let's hope so.

Good luck with this - let us know what you find out.

Unfortunately i went through changing all the fluids, filters, adjusting the clutch, and rocker pedal. I have started down the path of stripping the tractor so i can split it in half at the clutch. I think this will be a several month project since I travel 4 days a week and can't work on it every night.
