I just purchased a 2042 mower. Even though it has more horsepower than my old mower, it seems to be running very low rpms.
Can anyone tell me how to turn up the rpms on this new mower.
I know its not recommended but my old one was turned up and did well.

Any info appreciated.

Check for range of motion of the throttle cable. You can loosen the cable hold-down & reposition the throttle cable as needed. If you are under warranty, call your dealer & see what they can do about it.

Sorry but due to EPA regulations you cannot adjust the throttle on any of the engines manufactured.

The engines are designed to operate at full throttle only.

YOu need to have the dealer check the engine over. Possibly you need your governer adjusted.

Throttles are infinitely adjustable on any LT/GT. Adjusting RPM's is another issue. You'd have to do some of your own handywork to *adjust* the governor for more RPM's. You'd shorten engine and trans life by doing that however.
