Cub Cadet 1641 Weak Points?

Hi, I'm new to forum. Have a Cub Cadet Model 1641 w/48" deck and snowblade. Was looking for a place with tips to keep the old girl running.

Just had to replace the electric PTO (bearing seized). This is 2nd replacement since mid 90's. Normal failure rate?

Also, it has never seemed to have an adequate charging system. Local mower mechanic says voltage regulator weren't very good. True?

The owners manual suggests a 100 hr valve adjustment. (B&S Vanguard)
I owned a 1641 that bent a valvestem or pushrod because that adjustment wasn't done.

You might want to look into that.

Yah, just had a valve job done last year while I had the head off tracking down an oil leak.
