Mowing cub cadet 125 1970

My tractor will start with a jump but won't stay running after a few minutes. Just rewired voltage regulator, but still no luck. Could it be the generator has gone bad? Any ideas?

You need to check it with a voltmeter. Normal battery voltage is 12.6 volts and when running the generator should show 13.5 - 14.5 volts at the battery. The tractor shouldn't stop running from generator failure unless the battery is very low like 10-11 volts.

ok, thank you for the tip...I really want to avoid sending out. going to get a voltmeter and charger today, hopefully that works
