cub cadet 122 trans grinding in 3

hi, I am new to this site, not sure if this is posted in right place. I am asking if any one may have had similar problem and how they repaired there? first off I bought my cub in the spring time, it was not running right. I payed the asking price of $300. it came with mower, snow blower, and what was left of the rototiller. the tiller was taken apart and missing some parts. but still workable with little tlc. after I got it to run decent, I found I did not have any 3rd gear, and wanted to grind. if I pushed hard on the shifter I could get some movement from the tractor. I have not taken it apart yet, I am hoping to get it to stay running first. I would like to restore the tractor when time and money permit. till then I want it to function around the yard.

overall I think it is a nice first tractor. I may look for another while this one gets the major work done.

Today I pulled shifter off the trans . I have found that it maybe the top gear or the shift pin binding up. I had it stuck into 3rd gear. I will have take it apart for further investigation of the problem.
