I stopped at a farm to look at an old tractor. The owner had a nice big pole barn with a stoned floor and I looked the floor over. There were areas where it had little hills and valleys. For parking equipment it looked OK. For working on equipment or doing any fab work it would be nice to have at least a good sized pad of concrete. That would make it easier to have jackstands stay plumb and roll equipment with small wheels (welder, floor jack, etc). It would also help when fabricating or assembling things - you could move a sawhorse a couple feet and have it remain on the same plane it was on.

Ok, I have not read every post in this thread, but Eddie Walker has it right in post #5. Three years ago I built a metal building, 56'x30'. (see my avatar) Without going into all the details, it is VERY WELL ventilated, concrete floor and has no insulation. As a result, the temperature inside is the same as outside and I have never had any condensation problems. I do have dust and insect problems...

We are just learning that lesson storing aircraft in limestone floor hangars. If the limestone stays damp there is going to be some serious corrosion issues. Cant explain why but can guarantee the results. Way better off sitting outside. Had sliding metal parts seized solid in 4 months.
