cruise control does not work on my TC 40da

When I first bought my tractor it worked fine but it doesn't now. I've tried a couple differnt things to see if it would work but nothing yet.

Does it hold the speed a little then have it drop off, or does it not work at all? Do you have a green light on the switch that goes on when engaged?

The cruise control is an electromagnet that energizes on the hydro plate and stops it from swivelling. Did a branch swing up and disconnect one of the wires? Is the plate/magnet covered with grease? - try some carb cleaner on the magnet/plate. Tell us what you have tried/checked.

nh621; Do a search for "Sometime cruise control". It's a thread I started about the same problem your having, and how I fixed it on my TC35DA. Jinman even included some good drawings on it. The cruise on all three class III boomers are the same. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

The light will come on but only while you are holding down the button. It does not work to hold speed at all. I haven't had time to look at it to see if there are any wires undone.

Will the cruise control work if you persistantly hold the rocker switch down (and keep the green indicator light lit)? If it works while doing this the switch is defective.

No I tried that also, it doesn't make a difference.

Chris, this is starting to sound like the brake switch is misadjusted since the light goes out. It could also be the cruise relay or diode if I remember the circuit correctly. The easiest check is the brake switch and I think I'd look there first.
