Hey guys (and guyettes),

Has anybody installed cruise control after delivery? Either install yourself, or have the dealer do it?

I spent about 5 hours on the tractor today, and the arthritis in my knee is killing me. Thought I'd look into it, but wanted some good coaching from you guys first.

thanx

My memory thought the 2538 had cruise control. A lever below the steering wheel?

I'll look tomorrow, but the only lever I remember under the steering wheel, is the tilt-wheel.

I hope you're right, and I'm just blind and missed it !!

Cruise is an option on the 2538. From my understanding, it is a magnet that you engage which holds the pedal in place.

I don't have it yet, but will probably attempt an install myself in the summer.

I had the dealer install it on my 2538. It makes a big difference. It can be disengaged by either pressing the brake or or the green button on the dash (once installed). Just make sure you have your foot on the forward pedal when you do that or you will stop the tractor instantly and stand you on your head if not belted in. That way you can ease it down from the speed your going....

Strike my comment then. It sounds like it was on the one the dealer had, and I looked at, but not on all of them.

Any chance you'd be willing to share a "ballpark" cost on adding the cruise control? We've got to keep these dealers honest...:licking:

I cant' tell you exactly. I had the rear tires filled with methanol and the cruise put on at the same time all for @ $400. I'm guessing the cost of the kit and labor was @ $275
