Creating a Lake

I got some of the open dormers framed out this weekend. There is still at least another weekend of work to do on getting them done, but you can get an idea of what they are going to look like.

We're calling them wings. LOL

Hey Eddie,
The shape is cool but I don't see how that works. When you say open dormer I thought the framing would follow the arched beam. Your rafters look to go below?
Is the end open? Are you sheathing with bead board T&G? Can we get an end Picture? Soooo many questions! Can't wait to see the finish I'm sure it will be awesome.

I'm going to round the edges of the roof, so the ceiling rafters are in place, but where the ridge goes up, I'm going to add rounded rafters to create a steep peak. Then at the eves, I'm doing the opposite and rounding them out kind of like a bell. Nothing is going to be simple on this.

It was a kind of a get the little things done kind of weekend. Lots of bracing and saber saw work that doesn't show up very well on pics, but had to be done before the next big step. The Cupola.
