How about some of the solar powered garden lights for them?

For the flowers? That might be a great idea!!! I'm only halfway looking at solar options right now. I want to light up the gazebo and use a 12 volt pump to water the landscaping around the gazebo when it's done. It wouldn't be too hard to run some low voltage wire to each of the pipes and put a low wattage light in there for a nice effect. It just might happen.

We received half an inch during the night, which is just enough to make a mess of everything. I used up a full pallet of 60 pounds sacks of concrete Saturday, and bought another 20 for today. I used 17 of them for a total of 74 sixty pounds sacks, or 4,440 pounds of concrete!!

All I can say is that I'm glad I'm not pouring any more concrete in the mud!!! I'm still dealing with the weather. It started to rain a little after noon and all I managed to get done that morning was set my ridge beam and a few rafters.

The good thing about buying from Lowes is the one year guarantee on trees/shrubs.

I love the big cedar post and can't wait to see the finished produce. I have seen concrete culverts used as planters and like the way you did yours. Have you thought about getting a rustic looking tile to wrap them in? It would make them pop even more. Maybe add some color to them.

We've had a few of the knockout's for 5-6 years and have been happy with them, not much care involved and they seem to stay healthy. One thing that I've noticed over time is that they seem to lose almost all/any scent. :confused3:

I wack 'em way back in the spring to about 12" or so and they always look nice for the summer. If I remember, I do add some "rose care" product around the base (under the mulch) in the spring time and they do get the occasional shot of Miracle Gro throughout the summer.

Eddie, some cheap decorative tile put on those culverts could sure make them look like high dollar flower pots. :)

Maybe you could hire a "starving artist" to scrounge the depot and lowes for tile returns or scrap pieces.

The tile idea isn't dead, it's just on the backburner. If it happens, it will probably be next year when I have a bit of free time. I'd do it myself an go with something bright and shiny in a green mosaic.
