I’ve in the desert for over 30 years. This year has been the strangest yet. We have had more rain than usual and temperatures are MUCH higher than normal for January. Last week we had several days in the 70’s and the next 10 days will be in the high 60’s. We normally would be 15 to 20 degrees lower. With the rain and heat, the desert is the greenest I’ve ever seen.

Many deciduous trees have not lost their leaves and I’m definitely concerned about fire season.

CRAZY!

I think we broke the weather...

Yup. So far since last October, we have only had 14” of snow….only an inch or so remaining on ground. I too am extremely concerned about fire season this year. We don’t have enough snow pack to even open ski resorts.

I’m thinking all the new huge dams in China is starting to rotate the earth….but that conflicts with the flat earthers.

This is the strangest winter we've had in 50 years here in the Colorado Rocky Mountains.
Normally we would have several feet of snow on the ground all winter and cold temperatures... sometimes very cold temps.

This winter this winter is warm and dry. We've had less than an inch of snow since Oct. At 7000' elev. our driveway is still bare dirt.
Daytime temperatures in the 50s have been common most of Dec. & Jan.
The cold snaps we see on TV haven't come here.

We see more bugs outside than birds.

Just wondering how things are where you are.

Total of 14” of snow since october….usual is 90-110”. Today was 46°f i worked outside with no jacket. Never seen this in the 30 years ive lived here. Most of the snow that fell is all gone, except maybe an inch or 2 out in the woods. Sucks

Not really crazy here by any metric. But colder than average and dryer than average thus far this winter.

Work has a row of flowering pear and 30 years ago dropped leaves around Halloween… the last few years it’s later and later and this year mid January…

Same here in northern Nevada. No snow at all in the high mountains. According to the National Weather Service it hit 64 degrees today at the local airport which is a good 20 degrees above normal. January is normally the wettest month of the year - this past January only a trace of precipitation has fallen. If something doesn't change - and soon - it will be an awful summer. Our streams depend on snowmelt to flow. There is no snow to melt.

Interesting. Have the skies looked any different this year than past years ?

Northern NY;we have had about 50in of snow, about normal but has been cold.We need the moisture for sure, last summer and fall were unusually dry.

I'll trade you!

Here in northeast PA, we are experiencing the coldest winter in 15 years with 3 times the snow on the ground as we had all last year.

The NWS has issued an extreme cold warning for this weekend with below zero temps and a wind chill of -25F.

So much for global warming!

I have seen the "petrified forest" in AZ so the weather must have always changed and it will never stop...

Wintertime is usually sunny in Colorado, but this year it is even more so.
Bright sun and fewer clouds.
Today is is almost 60 degrees at 10:00 am. Not a cloud in the sky. Lots of insects out flying around,

Crazy weather started with Noah! I think.
South Central Washington and this is the first time in 31 years the electric heat has not needed to be turned on. First time in 23 years that we have not had snow accumulate on the ground. Had some snow but it didn't stick.
The last time we didn't have snow at all in the winter here (1950's), we got snow in July. Yep, Crazy weather! Even the weatherman can't predict it and never has.

It finally got above freezing today. It seems like it's been about 3 weeks since we've seen temperatures above freezing. Snow has been on the ground continuously for about a month. It's been a while since we've had a winter with consistent cold temperatures. I'm sure that will change in a few weeks. Northern Indiana
