Crack in Seat Cause for Wet Backside

I have a DK 40 SE that has a bottom seat with the seat cover cracked. Bought it recently, and the seat has taken on moisture when sitting out on dealer lot. Tonight I took the seat off because I am sick of a wet rear-end after I get done! I tipped it sideways and the water is running out the side. Need to replace the seat cover. Foam should be ok yet. Anyone ever replaced or recovered the seat? I have seen a thread with universal seat covers, but I am considering taking mine off and reupholstering it. Any ideas how to best go about this? As a kid on the farm, we used take old feed bags, fold em and sit on them. I guess I'm past that and want a nice seat to spend Saturdays on.

If you still have warranty on it, talk to your dealer. Depending on how much you beat him down on price, he might be willing to exchange the seat cushion with a new one. The worst he can say is 'no'.

I had mine redone by a local upholsterer and told him no seams, buttons or stitches. Looks plain but still looks brand new with no wet spots ever. He used Marine grade vinyl. Way cheaper than new too.

I agree. Either buy a new seat or like fidowanttobe - get it professionally reupholstered. My riding lawn mower - I can vouch for the fact that Gorilla tape gets old.

I drilled a hole in the metal plate under mine to drain any water that might get into it, and put a towel over it to make sitting on it comfortable. I'll replace it one of these days, but I've been saying that for quite a few years now.

I keep a small square of carpet to put on wet seats, I've replaced some seats though, depends on how much that tractor will be used...

My DK40 has been a fantastic machine but, like you my seat cracked pretty soon after I got it and it was always garage kept. I got a better seat from TSC that is still going strong after 10 years. I agree with the above poster, "get a new and better seat".

I don't use my tractor much in the rain, so it doesn't get wet while it's parked in the barn.
