Is there a video on the Waite tool? For the flat face couplers?

Post #19 quotes a link for Ken's Bolt on Hooks that has a video on how the tool works. He's shown using the ag couplers, but he states that the same principle works for the FF couplers.

It's the same principle as tapping the poppet with a hammer. Only the tool holds the fitting & pushes on the poppet as you tighten a bolt. Not rocket science, but handy.

The tool only works on male fittings. But that's all I need for my snow plow or post hole digger. Relieving 1 hose relieves both sides unless you have the plow hard up against the stops on one side. Might have similar issues if a grapple was hard open or closed.

The tractor side is usually easy to relieve by cycling the valve with the engine off.

Only issue I see with those is they don’t hold the collar back, he would still have to do that.

I am looking for the same tool. As with the original poster, I don't have enough thumb and finger strength (that is all you can get on it) to push the collar back far enough to either connect or disconnect. I have to completely spit shine clean the collar so that it will slide a bit easier but then it hits up against the boot cover ring which then also has to be compressed.

Something like a fork (ball joint remove as an example, but thinner) to be able to push on the top edge of the collar back.

Right now I have to use a brass punch on two sides to push the collar back far enough to remove or place the line back on.

Would it make any difference if the collar was able to be pulled towards you to connect-disconnect? There are push-pull collar type couplers. I know that these tend to be easier for coupling.

Those are certainly easier for me to connect and disconnect. That's what I have put anywhere I have added one.
I use the double brackets like these to mount them in:

The Parker 4200 series couplers will work in those brackets. Their sleeves are easier to move than some other couplers and since they go both ways it's easier to disconnect and connect them. Especially for couplers that are not mounted to bulkheads.

They're $26 at my local TSC, about $6-7 more than the cheapest 1/2" ag couplers.
