OK. So my adventure continues. I spent 8 houirs yesterday working on the tractor. Finished fluids, removed hood and really cleaned the thing, touch up paint etc, Got to the grease fittings and had some issues.
The manual for my CK25 shows zerks for the top link I saw none. The manual does not show any zerk for the leveling link but there was one hidden beneath a rubber plug. Manual also shows a zerk for the brake. I traced the brake from the pedal back to the rear axle and saw no zerk. Any thoughts?
On the front there are both right and left side zerks for the power steering : no problem on the right but the left will not accept grease. How do I remove and replace zerk? Doesnt seem to screw off and I really am stuck on this issue?
BTW: Learned a couple of new things. There is a sight glass on the front axle to check gear oil level. Dont know why but manual says to remove when changing out oil. So I go to put it back in and get heavy handed: shear off the bolt! Thats why there is an O ring so you don't overtighten. Go to NAPA and get a 1" pipe plug. Temporary fix, sight glass will be in Tuesday. $15.00 Why the manual calls for removal of sight glass plug is beyond me.
Lastly: Not mentioned in manual but I realized the gray side panels below the hood are easily removed to allow access. Makes oil filter removal easier. I found this out when I needed to access alternator bolts to tighten up belt. This also allowed me to paint them as they were a bit beat up.
Overall a long hot day in Florida but a great learning experience.
Today I tackle the FEL: clean, paint and grease
Happy holiday, everyone
