I am considering the CountyLine 5 ft box blade for gravel driveway expansion and maintanance, to help with moving a LOT of dirt to make a shooting backstop (scarifiers to loosen before picking up with loader), as well as general use around the property. This will be used with my B2630.

I looked at the landpride BB15 60" model and it looked to be not much more of a box blade for a lot more money. That led me to the Tractor Supply CountyLine model.

Before making the purchase, I wanted to get the thoughts of the folks here. I really appreciate all the useful info you all provide for new guys at tractoring like me!

Thank you for your time.

County Line isn't a brand, really, it is TSC's house name. Usually, you can tell if it is King Kutter or what have you. Best of my recollection, the box blade you looked at is indeed a KK. Hard to beat for the money and how much most home owners use one. Although, sometimes one of the other "farm fleet" type stores beat TSC on KK price. Also, TSC is pretty free about coupons at the on line site.

I have the 72" box blade from TSC and it has worked great. It is very rugged for the price. Granted, you can get much heavier built ones but at several times the cost. I've abused mine a few times and have never damaged it. In fact, I wonder if the 3ph may break before the box blade.

I just bought the 5' CountyLine BB this past Saturday. I had a 15% off on-line only coupon, but you cannot order it on-line. I called my local store and spoke with the manager and he agreed to honor the coupon at the store, so I bought it. Up here in the Northeast, they are made by Tarter Gate. The manager said in his opinion, it is much better than some of their past manufacturers. It looks really solid with nice curved steel blades on the bottom. I put mine on a wood pallet that I screwed in polyurethane casters to the bottom so I can wheel it around in my shop. I haven't used it yet, but I was happy to get it at $485. I have a new home and I have quite a bit of landscaping to do, so I think it will get a lot of use this spring/summer.

Thanks for your insight TripleR. I will count that as one vote FOR the countyline 5 footer. I may end up hiring out most of the backstop dirt moving - it really is too much for my little tractor. Somewhere between 150 and 200 cubic yards. It would take me all summer to complete!

I would love to find a way to work in any available coupons or discounts but am entirely unfamiliar with TSC. Could you provide a link or any other suggestions on getting discounts on this purchase?

Thank you!

Is that coupon still valid? Where did you get it?

Thanks,

My coupon ended last Tuesday, so I called the local TSC store and we discussed it. He took it this past Saturday since we previously agreed to it. It was emailed to me by TSC. I must have signed up for their mailings. Good luck.

Yes, a vote FOR. It is probably a good idea to hire it done, we worked on ours for quite some time using two tractors, an 80 and 72 HP with FELs along with a ten foot dirt scraper and then a 864 Bobcat Skid Loader. Ours is in a U shape with an access road offset in one end and open on the other. You will need to have the proper slope to prevent stray rounds getting out and this is best achieved by a professional with the right equipment. We did however save several thousand dollars by doing what we did.

Thanks Buckeyefarmer, I have been to the springboro store - only about 15 minutes from the house. What I meant was I am unfamiliar with coupons and discounts that it sounds like others get via email or regular mail. I will ask about it next time I am out that way. Should have been more clear. Thanks for taking the time to lookup the locations for me though.

Thanks to all for the input! I got the Countyline 5 foot box blade from Tractor Supply tonight. I think it will serve my needs well. The only coupon I could find was a 10% online only discount on any purchase. The manager of the Springboro Ohio TSC was kind enough to honor the discount even though it clearly said online only. They even helped me take the top link bracket off so it would fit in my truck (I have a low cap). Great customer service and they will get more of my business.

There is a lot of slop in the top link holes on this box blade. The website says it is cat 1 but it seems to me that the holes in the frame for mounting the top link to the impliment are really oversized. Is this normal for a box blade or this a manufacturing defect? When the rain stops I will go measure the holes.

The holes on my Countyline 5 foot box blade where the top link pin is inserted appears to be tapered from .95" on the outsides to .87" on the insides.

For reference, I also measured the holes on my Landpride RTR1558 tiller (.755" - .785") and my Landpride RCR1860 rotary cutter (.77" - .775").

The box blade has not been used yet and both landpride impliments have. I assume use will wear some of the paint in the holes off and further exagerate the issue. This seems to me to be very excessive play on the countyline box blade. Or are box blades done this way intentionally? What do you all think?

Thanks again for any insight you can provide. I am baffled!

There are two different qualities of TSC County Line Box Blades. The standard version and the HD version. The HD model is very heavy duty..not sure what the mount is called "saddle"? the regular duty model has an a-frame mount.

First picture heavy duty style.. wide heavy upper mount.. unseen is the captured lower mount pins. Second picture is regular duty...a-frame style upper mount.. open lower pins. If you have lots of rocks a HD model would be better.. but if your land is good soil a regular duty will be okay.

I don't think you need to worry about the size of the top link hole(s). Most of the heavy pulling/pushing is done from the bottom links anyway.

Eventually the top link holes will wear into an oval shape no matter what you do. That will be many, many years down the road and the tractor or cutting edge would be likely to wear out before it becomes critical.

My TSC does not carry a box blade with a "saddle" type attachment and neither does the website show one. They have orange ones (for the SCUTs) and yellow ones (for the CUTs). Mine is the yellow type for my CUT:

Thanks for your input on this. I likely would not have noticed except the BB required a longer pin than I had so I bought an extra long one and the flange on it is pretty small and it actually goes a bit into the hole. I will just buy one with a bigger flange and not worry about it.

Thanks to all for the input. I greatly value your advice.

Huh?.. I must of bought mine before they stopped selling the HD model. Now that I think about it.. I did have to special order it, and I assumed it was a King Kutter brand, it took longer to get than I was told it would. The price was about $300.00 more than the yellow one they advertise now. Here's a poor picture of mine. (it does say County Line on it, but it's a clone of the KK brand)
