The lazy shiftless teenager doesn't own the room, or the house.
So it's the governments responsibility to tell the land owners to grow up and clean up?
Slippery slope.. Kinda like those "common sense" gun laws.. Shall not infringe means shall not infringe..
It's not the governments job to tell someone to clean up their land.. give them an inch and they'll take the whole world... oh wait.. they're already doing that..
There would be no American Pickers if everyone cleaned up their junk?

I have an onsite caravan and visit every fortnight - have done for 20+ years. I also have a 9m x 6m carport and double garage. The only permit I have needed is is for the garage. Power is solar, water is from a tank. Dunny is a hole in the ground composting toilet. No trouble from the council or neighbours who are well aware I am camping.
A couple of times a year there are 12 - 20 "rent-a-crowd" camping on the place.
The council may not be aware but I have spoken to them and it is only illegal to live on site without a proper house.
This is in sth west Australia.

Let's be honest and clear, you don't agree with the democratic majority that is making the rules. "They" are taking over the world. What a dang shame you should have to live with a guarantee that your neighbor will not turn their yard into a trash heap. The horror!
Yes, the government should enforce some standards even on private property. I don't think anyone's life is improved by piles of trash laying around. Hoarders are mentally ill, in what nuthouse do they make the rules, or do we applaud their sickness?
I can see your viewpoint to an extent, but only so far. It's not slippery at all.
There are, or should be, clearly written ordinances that define when and how reasonable standards have been exceeded.
Either you understand you ARE the government or you don't. Get involved.
If you were to read the whole paragraph, you would find that a homeowner, tenant, etc CAN deny them access unless they have a warrant:

LOL.. You're a hoot..
I know quite a few people with piles of junk lying around... Not garbage.. but a lot of people these days would call it junk.. My father is one of them.. He's neither mentally ill or living in a nuthouse..
OMG.. seriously?? not a slippery slope?? with the reach our government now has??
Spoken like a true lover of government bureaucracy. Who gets to decide what is "reasonable"? Let me guess, the democratic majority? Right..
I'm the government?? No.. No I'm not.. Neither are you unless you actually do work for the government.. And even then, only if you're at a certain level.. The PEOPLE haven't been the government for a LONG time..
It is if it affects resale or health and safety.I'm sorry. But whether I like it or not it shouldn't be mine or the counties business if someone else's land is trashy. After all it's THEIR land.. Or at least should be. Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. If it makes them happy to have trash on their land whose business is it to say otherwise.
